Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Egyptian Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Guma added that a total of 60 Quran memorizers will be present at the contest.
He added that five Quran experts from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Sudan will join two Egyptian experts to make up the panel of Judges.
According to Guma, the ministry has allocated one million Egyptian pounds to present as cash prizes to winners.
He further noted that the 26th edition of the competition has been named after late Qari Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hasri.
The October 6 City in Giza province will host the contest on March 23-29.
